“Nature is one of our most influential teachers. It teaches us simplicity, flow, how to work in co-creation and a bridge to embody ourselves. It is a connection point to ourselves and others.”

Imagine doing Yoga while floating on the clear ocean water that surrounds the island of Cortes. Let yourself be immersed by the gentle rocking of the ocean and the fresh saltwater breeze kissing your skin, bringing calm to your nervous system.

Stand up paddle boards (SUP) are a great trade for your yoga mat – they are wide and stable, but can take you to new environments and waterscapes. When the board is coupled with nature, they serve as teachers imparting the lesson to remain as dynamic as the ever-flowing water, engaging your core in a way not often seen on land.

This practice will take you beyond just the physical aspect; it will teach you how to be one with the elements, tune into your inner center, practice awareness and mindfulness, and be present with what is – ultimate surrender.

The smooth, calm inlet waters of Desolation Sound offer idyllic conditions for all levels of SUP & SUP yogis. Connect with yourself in nature through a daily schedule that includes paddling meditation, SUP yoga, dry-land yoga, and Stand-up Paddleboarding guidance with a certified guide to learn proper paddling skills in the inlet and lake. The waters around Cortes Island are abundant with wildlife; seals, orcas, humpback whales, otters and numerous marine birds soaring overhead. You may also expect the best floating savasana you’ve ever experienced.

Expect the unexpected with lots of fun, flowing, laughter and refreshing days!

My experience at Hollyhock in the Standup Paddleboard Yoga was more than I expected. The time spent in the mornings doing yoga was lovely, alternating days on water and land. I was pretty nervous at first but with Marie-Soleil’s gentle support and helpful instruction I was feeling more confident every day moving around on the paddleboard. What a wonderful adventure challenging myself to push boundaries and learn a new sport. It was great having the support and companionship of others along the way. – L. Harrison, 2021 participant
